All of our hunts include the charter/pick-up from Anchorage.
I have been hunting and guiding in the Alaska Range for 18 years.
We live just north of Willow on a 2800-foot long gravel airstrip. This makes for easy transfers of gear and staff. Most of our guests in the fall will fly directly to camp with a charter company off of Merrill field in Anchorage or be picked up in anchorage and transferred to Willow for the flight out. Spring hunters will often transfer to a B&B near our home or the guest cabin on the property then base out of the house for the trip into the mountains.
Our hunting areas are all either mountainous or are comprised of rough and uneven terrain. We only use 1 small ATV to haul gear and firewood in the main camp all of the other hunting is done with aircraft dropped spike camps. Walking is the primary means of travel. Occasionally we will use a boat to our advantage. Be in the best possible physical condition. This allows us to access country that would otherwise be impossible to hunt.
