Alaskan Moose Hunts - September
Alaska-Yukon Moose the largest deer in the world. Standing over 6 feet at the shoulder and weighing in over 1500 pounds these dwellers of the swamps and willow thickets are magnificent in the fall colors of the Alaska Range Mountains. We hunt these huge animals spot and stalk and calling during the pre-rut and rut. There are few sights to compare to the flash of those huge antlers in the timber across the valley, unless it is a rut and call enraged bull crashing out of the timber right on top of you and your guide. Moose have legs nearly 5 feet long for a reason. The terrain they call home can be a very physically demanding exercise to negotiate. The better your personal physical condition the more enjoyable your hunt will be and the better your success rate.

The best time to hunt is the last hunt in September, closer to the peak of the rut allowing for the most effective calling. The bulls are also more active the later in the season you arrive, rounding up harems of cows and sparring with rival bulls.

30.06 min. rifle recommended with heavy constructed controlled expansion 180 or 200-grain bullets. I suggest Swift A-Frames, trophy Bonded, Barnes X or Triple Shock, Winchester Failsafe… Most of our moose are taken well inside the 200-yard mark, often in thick timber at 50-60 yards. Archers, Muzzleloader, and handgun hunters need to call and discuss equipment prior to booking.

We limit our moose hunters to 3-4 per season by choice. We average high 50 inches to low 60 inches depending on the year. All our moose hunts are 1 hunter per 1 guide.
